Positioned at the northern edge of the Ozarks, Lake Ozark, Missouri, is a city that blends lakefront living, tourism, and modern convenience. Located in Camden and Miller counties, it serves as the premier entrance to the Lake of the Ozarks, drawing both residents and visitors year-round.

Lake Ozark's story began with the construction of Bagnell Dam, which started on August 8, 1929, and was completed in April 1931. During its development, the lake was referred to as Osage Reservoir or Lake Osage, and for a time, the Missouri General Assembly officially named it Lake Benton, after Senator Thomas Hart Benton. However, none of these names stuck, and the lake became popularly known by its geographic location at the Ozarks’ edge.

Though the lake had already spurred regional development, Lake Ozark wasn’t officially incorporated until August 12, 1966. In the decades since, it has evolved into a thriving city, serving as both a residential hub and a major tourism destination, offering shopping, dining, entertainment, and world-class recreational activities.
